The Power Of Not Believing

Isn’t it a funny thing, that we’re all working so hard to believe in ourselves? I mean it’s a bit ridiculous when you think about it, like shouldn’t believing in yourself be more of a natural state? Shouldn’t it be at least a little bit easier?

Anyways when you understand energy and the ways of the world one thing is for sure: you must believe in yourself. I repeat, you must believe in yourself. Not believing in yourself is really not an option. But an interesting perception to be aware of is the power of not believing. I don’t mean not believing in yourself, I mean the ability to not believe in beliefs.

Why should one want to be able to do this? Let’s look at two vital reasons.

A lot of your beliefs are just inherited programming

A lot of the disempowering and negative beliefs we go through are just programs we’ve picked up through our upbringing. From society, our parents, our peers, advertising, traumatic experiences and so on. They are not necessarily fixed. They are not necessarily you. Not believing in these thought patterns and beliefs can help you weaken their grip over you. Remember all of this stuff is just energy and energy is transformable. So you are not your negative belief patterns. It is not your identity. It is not who you are. Change your negative belief patterns into something postive or neutral and you basically create a new you. Not believing in these thought patterns and beliefs can help you create ‘distance’ from them. It can help you create a certain amount of detachment from their influence, essentially loosening their power over you and allowing you to understand them and transform them.

Often times your thoughts are not even your own

It might sound strange but it happens. Often. It happens because your mind has the capacity to interpret the energies of your environment. And when it does this it often interprets it through the self i.e. through ‘I’. “I don’t feel great.”, “I’m not good enough.”, “So and so did me wrong.” etc etc.

Being aware of this allows you to be more objective. It allows you to be aware of the thought without reacting to it, without taking it personally. Not reacting, observing, and not believing it allows it to disappear from you like water off a ducks back.

Action Plan

So, what to do with this information?

  • Start becoming aware of your inner dialogue. Start becoming aware of your inner self.
  • Start taking more responsibility for the state of your inner self. It’s you, so you’re allowed to do this.
  • Become aware that you are not necessarily your thoughts and start deciding what to believe and not believe. Believe in yourself but don’t believe in things that try to disempower or restrict you.

The more you ‘see’ your negative belief patterns the weaker they become, because they are no longer free to run rampant in your psychology in secret. Once you ‘see’ them, you can then start to understand them and find their root causes. This always leads to healing because the truth is that deep down you are pure consciousness, an awareness, a light… and it’s just that all of these illusions, ignorances and false belief patterns are in the way, blinding us from that reality.

So be aware of your inner dialogue. Keep an eye on what’s going on inside of you. Understand your inner negativity. Transform your inner negativity. Neutralize it. Believe in yourself and believe in your abilities.
